I am on a martini roll lately and I haven’t had an espresso martini in quite some time and have never made one at home. It was easy to make and absolutely delicious. Now why is it always served with exactly three coffee beans for garnish? This is a question I asked myself and found the answer after a simple google search. It turns out that this tradition began by serving Sambuca with a “mosca” aka a fly. After many years the coffee beans are meant to represent health, wealth, and happiness. If that is the case, make this for yourself or at your next party and toast to these three wonderful things! Chin-chin!

Espresso Martini
Ingredients
- 2 oz. vodka
- fresh espresso, 2 oz
- coffee liqueur, .5 oz
- simple syrup, 5 oz
- 3 coffee beans, for garnish
Prepare
- First, pull or brew two shots of espresso and cool in the refrigerator
- Next, combine all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with 1 cup of ice and shake hard for 2o seconds. This will ensure a good thick froth.
- Finally, strain the drink into a cold martini glass, garnish with three espresso beans, and enjoy!
