This past year of my life has been one of the most amazing. Yes my boys are growing and I am growing older too. Each year that I live through I am astounded and say, “this one…this year has been the best.” Looking back is nice and those memories are great and I will always hold them near and dear to my heart as they shape me and enmesh my family and I together. 45 feels and looks great so far. Each year I firmly root myself into living in the present and love living there. I’m grateful for the people I get to love and love me, grateful for good health and love for cooking, running, the outdoors, plants, and reading. Grateful to be present in the lives of my boys so fully as I do each and everyday. I am truly grateful for my always positive outlook on life that no matter what comes I will take it on with gratitude. 🙏🏻 Here’s to the best year yet, 45! #newyear #birthday #pisces #thisis45

The lotus flower. It grows in the mud and darkness of a pond yet rises above water pure and beautiful. A symbol of resurrection, rebirth, of overcoming odds. Dormant seeds can sprout even after a century. Lotuses come in an array of colors, white, yellow, pink, blue, and purple. The Daisy that grows by the sea

I went for a swim in another ocean
An ocean quite far away,
And little did I realize what an experience lay ahead
My often usual warm swim in a calm ocean, wasn’t what found me…
That may sound tragic or sad, but in reality it couldn’t be farther from the truth that, discomfort is necessary for growth.

The sea was rough, waves massive and unforgiving,
Knocking you off of your stroke,
Freezing cold temperatures made for numb feet
But I felt alive and drew in the salt air, which was saltier than back home.
And there by the sea, in a small patch of grass on a cliff side was a patch of daisies.

I stood there stunned, amazed, tears began to fall down my face,
And then came the laughter.

How I could find something so joyful but yet represent strength, endurance, and resilience, like me.

The waves raged on and the daisies stood firmly rooted on that rocky cliffside, where the salt provided nourishment but didn’t kill them.

It was there that so poetically I found myself, the daisy that grows by the sea.
