I wanted so badly to make heart shaped Musubi this year but knowing me, I would be pretty frustrated and defeated if they didn’t come out perfectly heart shaped. Having smaller heart cutters I opted for this easy and fun weeknight dinner option of deconstructed musubi. I hope you enjoy this dish!

Deconstructed Musubi
Ingredients
- 2 cups rice
- 3 cups water
- 2 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 3 cans of Spam, sliced
- 1 package Nori, cut into smaller pieces
- 10 eggs
- vegetable or olive oil for frying
Prepare
- First, place rice, water, and sesame oil into a rice cooker or Instant pot on rice function and make the rice.
- Next, while the rice cooks slice the Spam into thin slices and using a heart cutter of choice cut out small hearts and set them aside.
- Now, bring a nonstick skillet/pan to medium heat and cook the spam hearts for about two minutes per side or until nicely browned. Set aside.
- Cut up the nori into small bit sized strips and set aside.
- Clean out your skillet/pan and add 5 Tbsp of oil and bring to medium heat.
- Fry three eggs at a time and place onto a plate.
- Finally, when everything including the rice is ready assemble your bowls with the rice, Spam hearts, Nori, and 1-2 fried eggs each. Enjoy!
