With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I know just what to make to show my love to all of my boys in my house. I mean, I could make virtually anything for them, but they really love and appreciate when I bake dessert, especially my homemade cookies. This chocolate chip skillet cookie is a sure way to win hearts, being heart shaped and all…see what I did there. Hahaha! Like many recipes I come across, I find them on Instagram. This recipe in particular was featured on the Le Creuset Instagram. They feature it using their heart skillet and I decided to make mine in my Le Creuset pan as a result! I hope you LOVE this skillet cookie as much as we did.
Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup dark chocolate chunks
- Vanilla ice cream
Prepare
- First, preheat oven to 350°F.
- Then in a small bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar with a handheld mixer until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add egg yolks, milk and vanilla, and beat until creamy, about 2 minutes longer. Add the flour, baking soda and salt, and stir with a spatula just until combined. Add the chocolate chunks and stir again just until incorporated.
- Next, spread cookie dough into the Cast Iron Heart-Shaped Skillet until 2/3 full. Do not overfill. Bake in preheated oven for 17- 19 minutes, or until the edges are puffed and slightly crisp, and the center is still gooey.
- Finally, remove skillet from the oven and serve cookie warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
