New York Style Pizza

New York Style Pizza, Pizza, Comfort Food, Pizza Night, Homemade Pizza, Food Blogger, Sun and Salt Wellness

Nothing makes me happier than a good New York Style pizza. It was one of my favorite meals for lunch or dinner when I lived in New York. While I can’t be in New York as often as possible to enjoy one, there is magic in making these at home for my family. We all enjoy making these together from start to finish and get to choose our toppings to make for the perfect pizza night at home! We hope you enjoy this as much as we do!

Ingredients
Prepare
  1. First, in a large bowl stir together the flour and water until just combined. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes. Using your hands mix in the yeast, salt, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Transfer the dough to a light floured surface and knead until the dough is soft and springy, for about 7 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into 3 equal pieces and form each piece into a tight ball.
  4. Lightly oil a baking tray and rub each dough ball lightly with olive oil as well. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Set aside at room temperature to rise until doubled in and the surface becomes bubbly, 3 hours. You can also make ahead by setting out for one hour and then refrigerating overnight.
  5. Preheat oven with oven stone(s) to 400 degrees F and then allow to cook for a minimum of 30 minutes before placing any pizzas on the stones.
  6. Roll the dough out, each dough ball should be able to be rolled out to 12 inches in diameter.
  7. Place semolina flour on a pizza wheel for easy transfer and lay out your dough disc, top, and brush olive oil on the pizza crust and dust with garlic powder.
  8. Slide it onto a pizza stone in your oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven by sliding onto a baking sheet, allow to cool for a few minutes, then cut into desired slices, serve, and enjoy!
