Ramen reigns supreme in our house. It is one of the most requested dishes from all of my sons. This Naruto Ramen is one of our favorite ways to make and eat ramen. Gone are the college days of having a sad Cup-O-Noodles without any real substance to it. On my trip to Japan this past March, I learned that the Japanese aren’t as crazy about sushi as they are about their ramen and soups. For every sushi restaurant there were at least 20 ramen restaurants in the area. And not to mention $6 would get you a bowl of ramen bigger than your head with a side bowl of steamed rice. I’ve been missing Japan so this is my ode to my time there. This recipe is hearty, full of nutrients and is great for reviving the sniffly or just because. Make this soon and Naruto Ramen is sure to become your favorite go-to meal for yourself and/or family.

Naruto Ramen

Ingredients
Prepare
  1. First, pre chop, cube, etc. all of your ingredients needing so. In a medium pot, bring water to a boil and add the eight eggs to hard boil for 6-8 minutes.
  2. In an InstantPot using the saute function, oil with sesame oil and saute the garlic for just a minute while stirring.
  3. Saute the cubed pork belly next, stir on occasion allowing the different sides of the pork to sear.
  4. Add all of the seasonings, chicken bouillon, seasoning packets from all 4 ramen packets, ginger, and stir.
  5. Next add water, can of coconut milk, curry paste, and sake, place the lid on top, set the function to Pressure Cook for Meat/Stew for 25 minutes. Do not add the ramen just yet. Doing so could cause it to stick to the bottom of the InstantPot and burn.
  6. In the meantime, drain the hot water from the hard boiled eggs and place eggs in a cold ice bath and peel. Halve the hard boil eggs and set aside for later.
  7. In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and add ramen and stir. A lot of the water will cook down.
  8. Once the InstantPot is done, take out the pot and place on a trivet. Add the ramen mixture to the soup and stir to incorporate.
  9. Serve the ramen in each bowl and top with green onions, Narutomaki, black and white seasoning packets, hard boiled egg, shiitake mushrooms, and chilli crisp. Good luck having just one bowl!
